Heritage Days at Zolfo Springs...

Turned into one of the nicest days this winter here in Frostproof today, making you want to spend the day outside, and we did!

It was a nice 45 minute drive over to Zolfo Springs, and this weekend they are hosting their Heritage Days, which is another term for having a great big flea market, along with a fly wheel convention!

What is a fly wheel you might ask? Seems to be a big thing around here... Lots of old antique motors on display, that actually work. They are kind of neat, and there were a lot of them.

They rig these things up to do just about anything... I took a couple short videos for you to tke a look at.

There is no end to human imagination, is there...

There were a bunch of old antique tractors and old cars and trucks on display as well. This show is huge, with over 400 Vendors putting their wares on sale!

They have a great big fair ground right inside the Town, and you can camp there as well, so it turns out to be very well attended.

This guy above with the fancy bicycle, did a lot of talking about it, but I never did see him get on it and ride it...

There was a whole section of Native Indian displays set up, they were selling a bunch of different pelts.

They have a period steam engine on display on a permanent basis...

We spent a couple of hours walking around enjoying the great weather here in Florida. We did our part in keeping the Vendors busy collecting money of course, with Judy getting a new cowgirl hat, but I did not take a picture of it...

Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the RV. I have been reading a great book, "An Astronaut's Guide To Life on Earth", by Col. Chris Hatfield, our very own Canadian Astronaut. It is a terrific book.

Col. Hatfield made three trips to outer space. Two Shuttle Missions, and then spent 6 months as Commander of the ISS. (International Space Station). I managed to get this book through the Polk County Library System, and they actually mailed the book to me when it was available... great service!

Col. Hatfield does a great job explaining what it takes to become an Astronaut, and also describes his time on the ISS in much detail. I am half way through, and it is a great read!

Till tomorrow...

  2. That fair reminded me of our very own Cobble Hill Fair back home - all kinds of interesting mechanical gadgets.

We have to see a pic of Judy in her new cowgirl hat! C'mon!
