A great Holiday Monday...

The weather finally came through for us this long Weekend...sunny and warm today, not what it has been for Saturday and Sunday...

Today we headed out for a motorcycle ride, with George and Mary-Lou, friends from our Church. They mentioned to us yesterday they were heading out for a ride, so Judy invited us along... they thought it was a great idea!

Destination for today: Paris, Ontario. One of the favourite rides in this area...

It is only about 50 klms. out to Paris, so we stretched it out over all the back roads. As soon as we arrived in Paris, you have to hit Timmy's! George rides the big red Goldwing on the left, and that is Mary-Lou, just getting off her Gold Wing Trike on the right...

After our coffee break, George came up with the idea of going for a walk along the trail in Paris. The trail extends from Cambridge, through Paris, and on to Brantford. (Yes, home of Wayne Gretzky) George wanted to walk north towards Cambridge, and check out the old railway tressel. The trail is the bed of the old rail line from many many moons ago. It was a great day for a walk...

Ontario's Provincial Flower is the Trillium, and we found a bunch of them out in full bloom today...It is great to see them scattered through the woods...

Even found some turning red as you can see above... they do not stay in bloom near long enough for me!

The trail runs right along the banks of the Grand River... you can see the old tressel in the background as it crosses the Grand.

We made it to the lookout, which is actually up on the first arm of the tressel...

The picture above shows the Grand as you look north... ya, it was a great day! Lots of people out on the trail...

Looking south above, back towards Paris...

Perfect day for the kayaks and canoe's that you see above, as they make their way past the tressel... George told me back around 1900 a train was crossing the bridge above, and detrailed, and went down into the river! That would have left a mark!

After our hike, we headed into Paris in search of an ice cream cone... yes, we found one!

We made it back by 5:00 this afternoon, just in time to call it a day!

Till tomorrow...
